In memory of ...Walter Dailey
A selfless man, dedicated husband, and caring father, Walter Dailey, Jr. lived a life that demonstrated profound peace, a brilliant sense of humor, and quiet strength. He was born on August 8, 1954 in Milwaukee, WI, the second child of Walter Dailey, Sr. and Alene Dailey, both preceded him in death. Walter attended the University of Wisconsin at Steven’s Point, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry and a minor in Business Administration. His career spanned several industries. Walter was employed with 7-Eleven Corporation for more than 15 years where he held several positions managing the 7-Eleven customer care system.Walter’s Christian belief and training began at an early age. He was a faithful member of Friendship West Baptist Church, attending the 8:00 AM Sunday service until his health failed him. An athlete at heart, Walter was a member of the cross-country track teams in high school and college and also enjoyed cycling, a hobby that continued into his adult years. He enjoyed watching professional football and would never miss an opportunity to support his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. Through the years, many weekends and summers were spent supporting and encouraging his sons through their academics and involvement in baseball. Despite the drastic changes in temperature throughout the seasons, he was always on the sidelines and in the stands cheering them on. Walter was a lover of technology and gadgets, and was truly a big kid at heart who enjoyed watching westerns, sci-fi movies, and Marvel Comics. He also loved staying abreast of local/world news, watching MSNBC and The View with his mother-in-law. Known to those who loved him as a homebody and fix-it man, Walter loved the challenge of hunting for bargains, deals, and tackling home improvement projects with the assistance of YouTube. On the evening of December 17, 2018, he passed away peacefully at his home in Desoto, Texas, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Walter is survived by his faithful and loyal wife of 26 years, Sharon, and beloved sons, Jonathan (Karolyn) and Jordan Dailey. He is also survived by a sister, Warrenetta Marie Packard of Wadsdworth, Il; brothers Scott Allen Dailey of Genoa, WI and Reed Murrell of New Orleans, LA; devoted mother-in-law, Willie Ruth Crosby of Jackson, MS; sister-in-law Rachel Roberts of Desoto, TX; brothers-in-law Anthony Crosby of Jackson, MS and Bernard (Gaye) Crosby of Dallas, TX; nieces Faith Derrick of Atlanta, GA; Jessica Murrell of Dallas, TX and Bianca Murrell of Houston, TX; nephews Jeremy Frison of Wadsworth, IL, Brandon Crosby of Fort Worth, TX, Antoine Dailey and Preston Dailey of Genoa, WI, Christopher Cheeks of Austin, TX, Quentin Murrell of Waxahachie, TX and Austin Roberts of Desoto, TX; goddaughters Staci Hamilton of Grand Prairie, TX and Kymberly Johnson of Dallas, TX; traveling buddies Rutha Smith and Patricia Rancifer of Jackson, MS; his best friend Frenchy (the family pet) and numerous other relatives and friends who were blessed to have known him.
